It is a Secret Pleasure
Many travelers automatically plan their Costa Rica vacation during the dry season, but there is something truly special about visiting Manuel Antonio during the Green Season.
Our rainy season arrives in two parts: from mid-April through May, when brief afternoon showers gently refresh the landscape, and again in September and October, when the rains can be more dramatic but are still typically limited to a few hours in the afternoon or evening.

Locals love this time of year
Mornings are often bright and sunny, followed by cloud cover that offers welcome relief from the tropical sun. Then comes the rain, nourishing the rainforest and bringing the jungle to life in every shade of green imaginable.
The beaches are quieter, the wildlife more active, and the pace of life feels wonderfully relaxed. One of the things we adore on our daily walks is the way the ocean presents a different colour each day, shifting from brilliant blues to deeper tones, through moss, chartreuse, and emerald greens, and finally into silvery grays.
Billowy Clouds
One of the season’s greatest spectacles is watching rain clouds build over the Pacific, rising ever higher and more billowy on the horizon. From the beach, you can watch the rain begin far out at sea and slowly move toward shore—a dramatic display of nature unfolding in real time.
There is something magical about the Green Season. With fewer visitors and a more intimate connection to nature, every day feels a little more adventurous and a little more authentic.
You may come for the sunshine, but you just might fall in love with the rain.
